Kathmandu - International President of SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama has said that today's world needs to follow the path of Lord Gautam Buddha and Guru Mahavir on the day of establishing peace and guaranteeing human rights.
Speaking on the occasion of the golden jubilee closing ceremony of Vaishali district in Bihar state of India, President Lama said that SAARC Journalist Forum will play a constructive role in the establishment of peace and guarantee of human rights in South Asian countries. He said, 'Walking in the path of Lord Buddha and Mahavir is the need of the moment.'
Vaishali District Establishment in collaboration with SAARC Journalist Forum, Bihar, India Chapter under the joint aegis of Human Rights Today and Amrapali Kala Sahitya Sammelan at The Buddha Fun and Food Village auditorium located near Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Vaishali, established as the mother of democracy in the world. On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee year, a discussion and felicitation ceremony on the topic of war, peace and human rights was organized last Saturday.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Sarita Budhu Convener of International Folk Culture, Mauritius, Dr. Anil Sulabh, President of Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Patna, Dr. Rajkumar Nahar, Program Head of Doordarshan Kendra, Patna, Human Rights Convener Dr. Shashi Bhushan Kumar, famous litterateur Dr. Usha Verma, Raju Lama, President of SAARC Journalist Forum and Md. Abdur Rahman of Hello Dhaka News jointly lit the lamp. Addressing the function, Dr. Sarita Budhu said that democracy and peace can be established only through non-violence. Chairman of the program, Dr. Anil Sulabh said that human rights violations occur widely during war. The current situation is not good for the world.
Welcoming President of SAARC Journalist Forum Bihar Dr. Shashi Bhushan Kumar said that protection of human rights is absolutely necessary for democratic empowerment. Dr. Rajkumar Nahar said that democracy is the best method of governance. Protection of human rights is a necessary condition for peace.
Padmashree Dr. Jitendra Kumar said that there is an atmosphere of war in the world today, which is not good for humanity. Padmashree Rajkumari Devi alias Kisan Chachi said that today the entire world needs the thoughts of Buddha, Mahavir and Gandhi. Padmashree Dr. Shanti Rai said in her address that war gives rise to many problems and it is not the solution to any problem.
Md. Abdur Rahman said that Vaishali has given the message of democracy to the world and spread democratic ideas. Amarnath Jha, founder of Elite Institute, said that human rights and democracy complement each other.
Human rights activist Amit Kumar ‘Vishvas’, present at the ceremony, said that the idea of war is fatal for democracy and human rights and having a war is equivalent to ending it. He emphasized on solving problems through democratic method. Kaushar Pravez conducted the stage at the function and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shivbalak Rai Prabhakar.
